This is certainly an unusual piece of folk art, circa 1840, this was probably used in some sort of store, reminds you a lot of a podium, but most likely was something in a general store or hotel for greeting, there is a side area where they kept something, the top is slanted, 2 doors hand chamfered as well as two dovetailed drawers, all hand made, original paint, I think the knobs and latch where added later, great wear and patina, also on the inside there where slats at one point, so could have even been in a post office, also on the top there is some sort of inkwell!
