Although the olive-muckle dun paint is old, it is not original, nor is the rust red used to contrast the interior of the open shelves which have grooves for plate display and cutouts to hold spoons. The whole cabinet is solid pine, and in addition judging from the unpainted state of the back boards indicates it was not originally painted. There is one shelf in the base cabinet which is a replacement and could be removed easily or painted. There is some wood filler in one of the backboards and some reinforcement to the cornice which can't be seen from the front. There is an old replaced board on one side of the drawer.
Otherwise everything else - escutcheons, hinges screws etc. Both shelves in the cupboard portion are grooved to display plates upright and one has cutouts to for hanging spoons. It is a super functional kitchen piece that really makes a visual statement when loaded up with pewter China and copper.
