A fine Aesthetic period ebonized étagère cabinet attributed to Bancroft & Dyer of Boston, MA, with carved owl crest, a central cabinet with single foliate carved door and original brass hardware, opening to a single shelf storage compartment, over an open lower compartment with carved arched opening, flanked by open side shelves with beveled mirrors and top galleries, turned shelf supports, highlighted with additional floral and geometric carved decoration, all supported by six carved feet. Very good overall condition, with some minor rubs, interior paint losses, minor restorations, and surface wear commensurate with age and use. Only marked on back with an inventory number. A comparable étagère from Bancroft & Dyer circa 1885 is included in the photos that is in the collection of the Currier Museum. Dimensions: Approximately 73 in H x 52 in W x 16 in D.
