So this item very Interesting. One of kind piece of American Furniture History. Just check the back of it all solid wood back. So my opinion strictly but I think it's like reversible. Could turn up side down and it will work perfect that way too.

Mostly made using wood only but there couple metal pieces. Unusually heavy for it size (I lifted a lot furniture so I know a bit about it). All carcass still very sturdy. This is one of those item that made to last forever.
