Antique Wood File Cabinet Set Library Bureau Sole Makers 7 units 4 Drawers Each

  

A very special set dates back to 1903 or at least that is the last patent date on the cabinets(picture with dates included). Set includes 2 end pieces and 5 extension pieces with the skinny transition that goes in between each(original hardware to secure them together is included). See end of this description for individual cabinet notes.

The pieces have been recently cleaned up and protected, unless the new owner wants to refinish the set, it is quite ready to be put to use for another 100 years more! This is a true antique (see how the drawer slides into the cabinet, that tells the whole story) made with hard woods so expect them to be quite heavy, also please note that wood reacts to humidity fluctuations and in order for the drawers to not stick, the humidity must be kept relatively on the drier side. With that said two drawers do stick a bit but with some luck we will be able to figure it out prior the sale at which point we will update the listing, in the chance we do not get around to do that, it is being mentioned. 7 Units long with transition pieces: 116 wide.

Wear consistent with age, expect scratches, cup stains on 3 units, some dripping from the staining used on the wood, some missing knob rods (see below), one unit has water damage on the top's surface. All original hardware to secure the units together as a whole is included. Please use the pictures provided as an extension of the description.

Please read below for other pieces of hardware that are incomplete. To identify each we are making use of the top card name on each vertical file. Has 2 Original Wood Follower Blocks and two green metal ones from the 1940's. Has all four Drawer Rods.

"General Files 1947 REI" Extension piece. Has all four original Wood Follower Blocks. "General Files 1944" Extension piece. Has two Wood Follower Blocks and two metal.

This is the one with two sticky drawers, bottom ones. This is the one where the top needs refinishing/water damage on exterior. Has three original Wood Follower Blocks, one metal.

Cup Ring Stain on top. "General Files 1944-45-46" Right End Unit.
