19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HAMILTON OAK INDUSTRIAL 24 DRAWER PRINTERS CABINET / ARCHITECTS FILE CABINET TYPE MAKERS CABINET. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world.

We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients. Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century antique 20 drawer machinist / type makers file cabinet by Hamilton MFG CO.

The art of printing has long been a passion of man and importance to history. As we evolved from the earliest carved wood blocks to moveable type, printing became much more elaborate and required more specialized tools. Hamilton MFG Co was founded in 1880 by Edward Hamilton and began by making wood type for printing until they noticed a shortage of capable type cabinets needed in a press room. In the following years they also created furnishings for medical offices, dentists, and various other niche uses. We generally find these with fitted drawers designed to hold smaller type.

This cabinet is larger than most and the drawers can be used at full width making it much more practical for modern use. The cabinet has double paneled sides with lambs tongue fluting around the panels. All 24 drawers actuate with ease and retain their original Hamilton MFG CO pulls.

The file is in fantastic condition with our only notes being a small piece of wood missing from one of the drawer faces and the front left corner of the top has a tiny bit of lift to it. We'll ask our restorer to splice in a piece of oak and match the stain on the drawer face with the small loss. This file is wider than most and measures 35 3/4" wide x 24" deep x 44 tall. The drawers can be used at full width and have useable dimensions of 30 3/8" wide x 15" deep x 1 tall.

We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation. We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe. All the items we offer to the general public are high quality estate pieces. We do not offer goods with significant flaws or defects.

We completely avoid items with issues. You can expect the items we sell to have reasonable wear and tear. Due to the large volume of goods we deal in we cannot describe items in minutia. We do our best to give you an accurate condition report in our description of the items. We have expert woodworkers and re-finishers on staff to service any piece of furniture we offer. We represent all merchandise in absolute good faith and to the very best of our ability. If you would like to find out about any number of our services, including appraisals and restoration, please ask us about our website for more information. This and our "volume shippers" discount creates a substantial lower cost for you. They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home.

We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services. Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection.

We don't like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks. We are not a storage facility.

We are happy to hold your items for a reasonable pre-agreed upon period. We have a zero tolerance policy for non-paying buyers. Any offer we accept is a binding sale and subject to the conditions herein. Massachusetts General Law applies to all sales.
