Very rare and beautiful antique 6-Piece Modular Library Card Catalog Cabinet Set. I cannot find a date record on any of the cabinets but based on the materials and construction techniques, I estimate it was manufactured at some point in the late 40s to early 60s. I have never seen one in this style with all wood construction and I cannot find a similar-to anywhere Ive looked so far.
Manufactured by Remington Rand Library Bureau Division USA. There is a dedicated metal plate with the manufacturers moniker on each cabinet, see pics.
The entire set features six (6) separate modular cabinets with a total of 48 separate drawers. There are two (2) end style cabinets with raised panel woodwork on both the rear and the ends as well as four (4) mid-cabinets with raised panels on the rear. All of the drawer slides are constructed out of wood and function perfectly.
There are a couple broken handles and drawer label inserts out of the 48 of them. However, the grain seems to resemble oak and I know that was a typical material for these cabinets of that era. Each cabinet is very high quality and heavy. This set is made to be seen from any direction, even the rear of each cabinet is trimmed in raised panel with cove molding.
Every cabinet is completely original and untouched. It would make an amazing conversation piece. It has many potential applications as a furniture piece, repurposed bar or wine rack storage, home office storage, garage storage, man cave, etc.
Overall Assembly (all 6 cabinets): 51 1/2H x 84 3/4W x 27D. End Cabinet - Individual: 51 1/2H x 14 5/8W x 27D.
Mid Cabinet - Individual: 51 1/2H x 13 7/8W x 27D. Drawer Face: 5 3/8H x 12 1/4W. Interior Cabinet: 4 5/8H x 10W x 24D.
