The back does appear to have a newer piece of plywood added so it can be hung on the wall - It looks that it could be easily removed as it's tacked on with small finishing nails. I believe it's oak but I'm not a wood expert - the back definitely is though.

Dimensions 26.75 Tall x 16.75 W x 7 deep at the base. Drawer is functioning with original hardware.
