Offered is this fantastic, absolutely exciting, early 20th century Ame ri can folk art vintage, small four-drawer upright wooden chest of drawers, made completely out of found wood box advertising crates. The lathe-turned wooden finial drawer pulls are period and were fashioned in the mid to late 19th century and were added to the wood box crate's long sidewall, which in turn became the chest's drawer facia. The chest of drawers has nailed construction. All the drawer pulls are present, as are the four drawer bottoms and chest backing board. One one side of the chest can be seen the original black ink stamped graphic iconography of the tomato box, while the other side of the chest of drawers has a nearly intact SMCO Tomatoes lithographed color printed, affixed paper advertising label, nearly completely covering the entire side of the box.The bottoms of the drawers also provided evidence of a wood box crate getting cannibalized to create this primitive four-drawer chest. Gives all new meaning to'Yankee thrift. Good to Very Good overall vintage condition. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Cabinets & Cupboards".
