This is an antique 30 drawer quarter-sawn oak Library Card Catalog (filing cabinet), made by "Library Bureau Sole Makers" in the early 20th century. You can see the metal tag in the top center of the cabinet. It is also marked with a serial number in the top left-hand inside corner: 14324. This lovely cabinet with 30 drawers measures about 16" Deep, by 32" Wide by about 26 1/2 Tall.
The drawers do not have the metal rod assembly that would have run through the bottom of the cards and some of the drawers are missing their wooden "wedges" that kept the cards in an upright angled position. Three or four of the bottom drawers appear to have teeth marks from a mouse but are not terrible. The cabinet case is in nice antique condition, with beautiful "dovetail" construction on the drawers. All of the drawers are marked. Patented March 15, 1892 & September 11, 1894. They are also numbered on the backside in pencil which I believe is original to the drawers. The top is not in perfect condition (please see photos) and there may be some more additional scuffs and scratches overall but these minor flaws are overshadowed by the overall appearance of this great piece. All in all, a gorgeous, hard to find size Library Bureau Oak Cabinet that is useful and a great addition to your decor. Please see all the photos as they are part of the description. These photos were taken with sunlight so the cabinet may be a little darker in appearance in person.I have several additional photos if needed. I will consider all reasonable offers.
