Massive, antique, Arts/Crafts era, solid golden oak, 6 shelf, 2 door, display cabinet in original finish. This stunning cabinet was rescued in the early 1980's from the former Garfield school in Elmhurst, IL which was being demolished!
I'd guess it was originally used for book storage in the classroom. The school was built in the 1910's or 1920's.
My father salvaged 2 of these while employed there as the Park District carpenter. It's identical, but I believe it has a darker finish. My mother used this as her curio cabinet until her death at 93 in 2016.
In superb condition, it has 6 shelves and 2 solid oak 32 pane doors. All of the glass is also original. The color is closer to that of the darker (1st 7) photos. Only damage to note is one cracked pane of glass (small corner crack in last 2 photos), which is in the pane, 2 to the left of the knob. There is some minor discoloration near the base, from mopping, etc.To be expected in a piece of this nature and former use. The shelves are fully adjustable in 2 increments! Measures 82" tall X 62 1/4" wide X 19 1/2 deep. I would be keeping it, but it's too large for my 1850's home in Iowa!
